Ethel’s Educational Express Child Development is a Licensed Home Family Child Care owned & directed by Ethel Terry Knight with an aim to provide quality and cost effective family childcare for children by allowing parents to work or attend school. Ethel is a native of Greenwood, MS. She has over 20 years of experience with children of all ages. She enjoys being around children and enabling them to advance in growth and development. She is a loving, honest, & patient wife and mother of 3 wonderful children ages 20, 17, and 14. Also, she came from a large family of 8 siblings so she has been a babysitter most of her life because there were always so many children around. She has even had the privilege to babysit a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Ethel seeks to go above and beyond by attending to each child in her care by promoting them to achieve and develop at their full potential. During the past ten years she has worked in community schools (private and public), daycares, churches, Boys and Girls Club, Boy's and Girl's Scouts, & AmeriCorps. She worked as a D.A.R.E. Instructor (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) with D.A.R.E. America in the Middle and Elementary schools throughout the communities for 4 consecutive years, (a 10 weeks program every calendar school year, 7 periods every Thursday in a classroom setting, teaching up to 25 students).

Also, she has worked as a Police Officer for 7 1/2 years, in which 2 1/2 years were as a Patrol Shift Sergeant, supervising 5-21 police officers on the streets of Greenwood, MS. Prior to that, she worked at the Mississippi State Penitentiary for 2 1/2 years as a Correctional Officer in which she was selected as active supervisor as needed. She attended Nursing School at MDCC, but went on to earn anAssociate Degree of Arts, and most recent she has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. She completed 448.8 clock hours during her internship at UAMS in Little Rock assisting people with resources for different illness and disorders.Mrs. Knight has learned a lot over the past years and possess a great deal of experience and passion for working with children.
